This is a new, independent website launched in October 2026. It is not connected to the previous owner of the easternsierrabirdingtrail.org domain, and it is not the original Eastern Sierra Birding Trail map project. According to Eastern Sierra Audubon, the original map was produced by the Mono Lake Committee with Eastern Sierra Audubon and the Owens Valley Committee. We are not affiliated with any of those organizations, with Mono or Inyo County, or with any land-management agency.
What we cover
- An overview of Eastern Sierra birding and what the original trail was
- A north-to-south list of birding sites along US 395
- Site guides for Mono Lake, Lee Vining Canyon and the Owens Valley
- Sage-grouse lek viewing rules
How the information is sourced
Every fact, number and date on this site comes from a published source, mainly the Mono Lake Committee, Eastern Sierra Audubon, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon and county visitor bureaus. Each page lists its sources with links. We don't publish personal trip reports, reviews or invented details. Access rules and closures change, so always confirm with the land manager before you go.
What you won't find here
No ads, no affiliate links, no tracking, no booking or sales, and no contact forms. This site doesn't sell maps or tours. For the printed Eastern Sierra Birding Trail map, ask at a local visitor center.
